Yesterday was a very wet day! The day didn’t go to plan at all and when the day is not going well with 3 children we need a new plan.
As a child my sister had a book called The Big Green Star, I think, it was a long time ago. The book had a recipe to make play dough and it made the best play dough. I have often thought of this play dough and yesterday looking out of the window at the pouring rain it occurred to me that I have never search for the recipe online.
This is pretty much the recipe as I remember it:
3 cups flour
1.5 cups salt
6 tsp. cream of tarter
3 tbsp. oil
3 cups water
Put all the ingredients together in a pan and mix together over a low heat until the dough comes away from the sides of the pan. It doesn’t take long. Knead for a couple of minutes until smooth and colour with food colouring if desired.
I will keep for up to three months in stored in an air tight container.
The consistency really is great and very therapeutic to knead and it kept the kids busy for quite some time. Very worthwhile all round 🙂
